Project: ScentStory

Objectives:

ScentStory is a bespoke ecommerce website built for a boutique perfume retailer in Kenya. The client needed more than just an online shop—they wanted an elevated brand experience that resonated with luxury, quality, and trust. I delivered a custom-built site using WordPress as the CMS and WooCommerce to handle product listings, payments, inventory, and order fulfillment.

The visual design emphasizes elegance and clarity, ensuring the product photography and descriptions take center stage while keeping the UX frictionless across devices. I implemented conversion-conscious layouts and calls-to-action to drive engagement and reduce bounce rates.

To ensure the site ranks competitively in search results, I integrated and configured the Yoast SEO plugin. This included keyword optimization, structured data/schema, readability improvements, meta tag control, and the creation of dynamic XML sitemaps. Every product and page was audited for on-page SEO to maximize organic reach.

Beyond the build, I advised the client on content strategy and product categorization to support both SEO and user navigation. Performance was optimized through image compression, lazy loading, and caching techniques.
